Account Executive


This role is available in Bracknell




Software AG is looking to recruit an Account Executive for Global Consulting Services to meet/exceed agreed revenue targets, for Software AG’s service solutions, in a new business sales environment. This role entails working in the GCS Business Development team selling services into existing and/or new customers, in particular Telco and Media territory’s.


The ideal candidate will present Software AG’s value proposition to ensure continuation of services, and maintain & update customer contact, contractual details, and all correspondence throughout the sales process. The position requires a self-motivated and organized individual with a proven track record of successful consulting sales. The role requires the individual to work closely with Account Executives in the liaison and relationship management of our customers.


Principle Responsibilities:


  • Achieve annual quota targets
  • Manage successful sales cycles by:
  • understanding Software AG’s competition and USP’s
  • generating leads by prospecting
  • regularly meeting with prospects to understand their businesses, and generate demand for services
  • producing compelling proposals as required
  • manage the sales cycle by involving the eco-system and providing absolute focus on winning deals
  • reporting regularly and accurately to the Director of GCS on revenue prospects within
  • negotiating and closing contracts
  • Keeping up to date on developments within the chosen territory
  • Ensuring sufficient personal activity is maintained in terms of Prospect facing meetings, general prospecting and cold calls
  • Identify key seminars and conferences within your assigned vertical market




The ideal candidate will be able to make a positive contribution to the organisation from day one. The following skills are essential:


  • A combination of experience will contribute to the candidate's appeal; the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in successful solution selling generating services revenue, with a verifiable track record of exceeding quota.
  • Knowledge of a chosen vertical market.
  • Integration technical background
  • Demonstrates clearly focus on high levels of activity in a new business role and takes steps to ensure high levels of prospect facing activity (meetings/calls etc.)
  • Must be able to conceive and present convincing business propositions
  • Experience of solution sales in excess of £250,000
  • Able to operate with credibility at senior levels (typically IT Director / Operational Director / Head of Business Unit), but also be comfortable spending time with technicians 
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, able to conceive propositions and communicate business value
  • Understands the integration/legacy modernisation market
  • Prioritize workload in order to meet all KPIs, goals and objectives
  • Maintain a professional dialogue and demeanour in challenging situations
  • Take initiative and use all available resources
  • Research and problem solving skills 
  • Strong customer orientation and dedication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Results-oriented with proven ability to follow through and bring issues to successful resolution


Required Education and Experience:


  • Familiarity with using a CRM package to manage sales activity
  • Consultative Selling Style
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite of tools, especially Microsoft Excel
  • A professional degree at the Bachelors level
