Position Purpose

This position has a strong business impact, and is expected to lead high-impact projects in a specific domain area. You are expected to manage key customer stakeholders, generate new business ideas and contribute to SAG’s delivery methodology (PRIME). Key responsibilities include;

  • 75% Project Delivery: working closely with client and SAG Project Managers to shape and successfully deliver the engagement. This could be in a technical (review, analysis, design, development and delivery of SAG solutions) and/or a team leadership (managing and mentoring the team; executing and completing assigned engagement within the time, scope and budget) role, to meet client expectations
  • 15% Business Development: Deliver professional technical advice / presentations to customers in support of sales colleagues; develop Proof of Concepts; respond to Request for Proposals; support the scoping and estimation of a prospective engagement; Act as a thought leader
  • 10% Method Development: support the ongoing development of PRIME methodology and local consulting Go to Market propositions


The above, to be conducted in line with SAG’s delivery methodology (PRIME), working on customer site for typically 75% of the time. This is likely to require frequent travel, both within and outside the UK.

Job Functions

  • Supporting Sales via technical presentations, workshops, PoC, RFI/P responses etc
  • Supporting the Project Manager with Statement of Works, estimates and roles required for new projects
  • Defining world-class high level strategies & road maps; provide overall architectural vision
  • Design Authority for the development and implementation of SAG Digital Business Platform solutions
  • Governance to ensure that projects are aligned with SAG’s delivery methodology (PRIME)
  • Provide direction on projects of various sizes and complexity and leadership across organizational and functional boundaries at client site
  • Executing engagements in line with SAG’s delivery methodology (PRIME)
  • Potentially manage matrix team(s) of consultants toward successful project completion
  • Contributing to post implementation reviews to incorporate findings into future work
  • Contributing to the further development of SAG’s delivery methodology (PRIME) and Solution Book
  • Mentoring consultants and customers with opportunities provided by the Software AGs products
  • Training and educating end users
  • Identify additional product/services opportunities in customer organization


Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or appropriate Business Degree
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience with some supervisory
  • Have UK clearance or willing to undergo UK clearance
  • Extensive experience in leading development and architecture / solution design and an understanding of the full software development life cycle
  • Exposure to multiple industries and across multiple architectural styles such as SOA, Micro Services, Event Driven distributed systems
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience in one or more of the following domain areas/Products;
    • Streaming Analytics (Apama or similar)
    • Application Integration (webMethods or similar)
    • B2B Integration such as HL7, SWIFT, RossettaNet, EDI (X12 and EDIFACT) (webMethods or similar)
    • Cloud Integration (webMethods or similar)
    • Business Process Management (webMethods or similar)
    • Operational Intelligence (webMethods or similar)
    • In-Memory Data Management (Terracotta or similar)
    • Business Rules (webMethods or similar)
    • Managed File Transfer (webMethods or similar)
    • Service & Business Activity Monitoring (webMethods or similar)
    • Master Data Management (OneData or similar)
    • Design-time & Runtime Governance (webMethods or similar)
    • API Management (webMethods or similar)
    • DevOps (Modem build pipelines and tooling, Continuous Testing & Continuous Deployment )
    • Data-Modelling (SQL)
    • Integration & Messaging Patterns
    • Service Designs (SOA Principles)
    • Experience of Architecture Frameworks & Development Methodologies such as TOGAF, Prince2 & Agile, Scrum Development.

    • Exposure to Network topologies (Load Balancers, Firewalls and Proxy Servers)
    • Exposure to IoT technologies
    • Experience of Cloud Platforms preferably Azure

  • Industry languages and protocols: Java, XML, SOAP,  REST, OData, JSON, WSDL, XSD, XML Schema, XQuery, HTML, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, JSP, Servlet, BPEL, BPMN, XACML, Groovy
  • Operating Systems: Windows Server, UNIX, Linux (RHEL, SUSE)
  • Frameworks / standards / methodologies:  COBIT, ITIL, Six Sigma, Industry tools: Jenkins, Git, Subversion, Eclipse
  • Transactions Monitoring Technologies: Optimise for Infrastructure, Insight.
