Business Development Manager* IoT



Locations: Germany, Austria, Switzerland


As a Business Development Manager* for IoT at Software AG, you will be responsible for identifying and developing new business markets for Software AG that will result in increased revenue. As a technology solution sales leader, you will be reporting into our sales organization and will be working closely with our marketing and product teams to create new business with our IoT solutions. 

You will foster our growth by assessing our current go-to-market approach, identifying new markets, building business plans and business development into new markets. The successful Business Development Manager* will understand the market, will develop a plan to position Software AG in the given markets and will then scope the potential revenue/profit opportunity and influence key leaders to gain approval.

This role is revenue generating.

  • Take leadership in influencing and shaping customer decisions to buy and adopt Software AG’s IoT product offering
  • Display understanding of SWOT analysis by market segment in the focused regions
  • Develop a plan for new market opportunities for Software AG, ensure development of new business and achieve sales targets
  • Deliver compelling sales presentations to internal and external leaders
  • Drive sales adoption through sales-led activities including targeted account planning, account management and replicating product success at scale
  • Lead TCO and ROI conversations with customers and field teams as opportunities progress through the sales cycle
  • Provide monthly and quarterly checkpoints on progress and sales updates
  • Set up, execute and measure campaigns for sales/sales development in alignment with sales, marketing and product teams
  • Tracking of ROI against all business development action and prioritize for the future
  • Development of functional use case with visible total addressable market
  • Interface between sales and product marketing/partner management





  • Ability to think strategically, distill complex ideas, and focus on market opportunities that will scale
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and influence stakeholders and key leaders
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to measure effectiveness of programs and extract actionable insights
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize time with minimal supervision
  • High energy and enthusiasm
  • Business development mindset
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in German and English





  • 8+ years selling IoT technologies to large customers or related job experience
  • In-depth understanding of and experience with successfully executing solution sales
  • Proven experience with development of new concepts and initiatives
  • Functional knowledge of IoT technology
