The successful candidate will be able to work remotely or from any of our UK offices and will be expected to deliver consulting project activities, ranging from client identification through final invoicing through medium- to long-term engagements requiring varied interpersonal and technical skills.  Technical responsibilities include problem identification, system architecture definition, hardware/software specification and/or design, implementation, testing, client training, and solution deployment.  Viewed by customers as a consultant and is typically measured by delivery of agreed solutions within budgeted hours.

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You should have a degree in Computer Science or in a relevant field.

You should be capable of acting as a team lead on certain projects and supervising multiple programmers assisting them with the programming and analysis functions. Develop work plans for individual tasks; work with minimal direction.

 

You should have experience working with an application development life-cycle methodology as well as participating in JAD sessions and performing user requirements definitions.

 

This position requires excellent interpersonal skills to be able to gain clients confidence and maintain a professional relationship with clients, peers and management, as well as, excellent written and verbal communication skills with immediate client, supervisor and peers, as well as, presentation, organizational and planning skills.

 

You must be able to work with minimal supervision as a team lead and be part of a team and potentially matrix team(s) of consultants toward successful project completion.

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years directly related work experience
  • Industry Fortune 500 experience a plus.
  • Experience with three or more of the following areas:  Java/C++/object oriented programming - XML exposure - RDBMS (any Oracle, Informix, DB2, SQL Server, Sybase) - Unix or NT - EAI, middleware, or other integration experience - E-commerce, web servers (Netscape, Microsoft) or web application servers Software AG products. Tibco, Sybase, Streambase or other Complex Event Processing platforms are a plus.
  • Experience of working with project stakeholders in requirements gathering for the purposes of project scoping, technical risk assessment and effort estimation.
  • Experience in writing high-quality design and other technical documentation.
    Experience in designing and documenting operational and support procedures in support of technology roll-out
  • Experience of designing and delivering technical training courses an advantage.
  • Experience of working in a complex, dynamic environment.
  • Experience of working independently in a fast-paced consulting environment, and must be capable of managing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Track record of managing geographically dispersed teams drawn from internal, partner and client organizations to deliver projects on-time and to budget.
  • Customer Management experience with good track record of delivery in a Financial Services context
     

Skills                  

 

  • Strong hands on development skills in C/C++, Java and/or similar language.
  • Technical Architecture and Design skills with respect to complex enterprise technologies preferably gained and deployed in a Financial Services context.
  • Technical knowledge of front-office trading systems including Market Data Systems, Order Management Systems desirable.
     

This position may require extensive travel depending on client location.
