ABOUT THE JOB

Provide legal guidance to the Software AG Americas sales and services organizations under the supervision of other Software AG in-house counsel.   Review and analyze legal documents and other data in order to advise organization on appropriate legal action to be taken, including, as applicable, the management and coordination of legal matters or projects where outside counsel are actively involved.  Understand and help to administer company policies.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal guidance to the sales and services organizations
  • Identify and recommend necessary actions to senior in-house counsel and, as applicable, internal management and clients, in order to help achieve revenue objectives while maintaining compliance and mitigating legal risks to the organization
  • Represent the organization on internal company teams and projects and external customer matters
  • Handle other assigned duties, including, but not limited to, project management activities relating to litigation or M&A matters

 

ABOUT YOU

Academic Degree:  Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

 

Professional Experience in year(s):  2

 

Special Knowledge:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of in-house or equivalent law firm experience.  Helpful, but not required, are one (1) or more years of experience with handling matters concerning any or all of the following: new technologies, such as IoT or SaaS; general corporate matters including M&A; and, litigation and dispute resolution
  • Knowledge of the IT industry and an understanding of the competitive landscape for products sold by Software AG
  • Specialized knowledge or experience in another area of relevant law or legal practice such as data protection and privacy

 

IT Skills:

  • Must be self-sufficient in generating work product and able to work with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel

 

Languages:

  • Not required, but any intermediate or advanced German, Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a plus

 

Additional Requirements/ Soft Skills:

  • Must be able to work well both independently and on teams
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • State Bar membership required
