Position and Objectives:


Software AG Cumulocity IoT is one of the world’s leading IoT platforms with deployments across the globe. The Cumulocity IoT platform leverages the power of device connectivity, analytics, machine learning, edge computing, and enterprise integration. This key role will contribute to developing software AG’s IoT vision, strategy, and go-to-market, being part of a larger IoT Product Management Team.


The seniority of this product management role is dependent upon experience. The position may suit a junior product manager who wants to develop business-focused skills and learn more about how a fast-paced product management team functions or it may suit a more experienced product manager wanting a new challenge by joining this IoT-focused, customer-centric product management team.

The nature of the constantly evolving IoT business means that working as part of the product management team, changing responsibilities, and embracing new challenges, lead to career development beyond the responsibilities described in this role description.




The product manager will be the primary person responsible for pricing, billing, competitive analysis, and customer analysis for the Cumulocity IoT platform within the 400-person IoT & Analytics business unit. The role requires a large amount of communication, whether taking part in face-to-face meetings, virtual meetings, or writing emails, PowerPoint documents, and website content, etc. The role will also periodically require presentations to audiences in person or remotely. Periodic international travel may also be required (usually no more than once per quarter).


  • Pricing strategy and implementation for the Cumulocity IoT platform. Working with product management, product marketing, sales, and business operations to influence the pricing strategy and evolve the pricing model continually based on market demand. Collaborating with sales to understand the many ways customers want to pay for our products (fixed per month pricing, dynamic pricing per usage, etc.)
  • Billing and metrics product management for the Cumulocity IoT platform. Designing and working with R&D to build effective solutions for billing customers using Cumulocity IoT products in the cloud and on-premises. Ensuring the billing solution in the Cumulocity IoT product gives customers full transparency to their product usage ahead of the billing period. Working with sales, logistics, and business operations departments to integrate Cumulocity IoT with existing billing solutions
  • Competitive analysis supporting the Cumulocity IoT go-to-market strategy, competitive positioning. Influencing the Cumulocity IoT product roadmap based on promoting areas where Cumulocity IoT is a market leader and areas where Cumulocity IoT needs to consider further investment. Hands-on analysis of different products requires an element of technical proficiency and a strong exploratory nature. Maintaining an internal Competitive Intelligence site and finding creative ways to share competitive intelligence content with a global field organization. Being the go-to person for sales or pre-sales to contact regarding competitive intelligence
  • Customer analysis identifying the many distinct vertical market segments where customers use Cumulocity IoT. Working with sales and, where necessary, directly with customers to understand the markets they operate in, their use of Cumulocity IoT, and the benefits the platform brings to their business



  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Engineering (or similar)
  • Passionate about IoT and cloud computing
  • Excellent written skills with an ability to relate complex technology features to business benefits
  • Results-oriented, self-starter, and diligent
  • Keen to learn new business and technical
  • Passion for evangelizing benefits of IoT and analytics
  • Desire to pursue a career in product management
  • Ability to travel internationally



  • MBA
  • Proficiency in data analysis with an understanding of statistical methods is highly desirable with experience presenting findings from analysis to decision-makers
  • Experience with IoT and cloud computing or cloud businesses
  • Direct experience with pricing, packaging, or software licensing Experience performing competitive analysis and customer case studies
