Vice President, IOT


VP, IoT Strategy & Sales


Location: Remote, USA.  EST or CMT time zones preferred.



The VP, IoT Strategy & Sales serves as the IoT and technology leader for the North America region and is responsible for driving the IoT business by leveraging a broad cross functional team to identify, develop, win and retain IoT customers. Furthering the Software AG IOT strategy, vision, and roadmap in conjunction with Product leadership. Through collaboration with marketing, systems engineers, regional field sales teams and global product teams, they will direct our IoT strategy and manage a team of IoT Specialists to deliver IoT customers and revenue. The VP, IoT Sales will be responsible for ensuring the right IoT specialists are in place and that they have the necessary knowledge, skills and training to meet the challenges of the market. The VP, IoT Sales should possess a strong business acumen, comfortable leading in a matrix organization and be a deep subject matter expertise of the IoT and Industrial IoT (IIoT) field.



  • Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape
  • Evangelize Software AG’s IOT solutions across market and industries
  • Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity
  • Develop, lead and drive IoT strategy to meet IoT-specific business goals and objectives
  • Managed direct IoT Specialist team to create pipeline, identify winnable opportunities, secure competitive wins and deliver revenue to meet or exceed individual quota goals.
  • Lead technology specific business discussions with executives within client organizations.
  • Lead the strategy for technology in the NA region, based on our corporate guidance, partnerships and external relationships
  • Maintain strong reporting and accountability against numbers, driving to exceed quotas, while developing and managing motivating incentive tools.
  • Work closely with Marketing and other cross-functional teams to create a compelling IoT GTM that includes representing Software AG in public speaking engagements, analyst interactions and thought leadership activities.
  • Work closely with the Alliances and Channels organization to assist in building out the IoT partners that support for both deliver and resell of Software AG IoT solutions.
  • Collaborate globally with peers from other regions to share knowledge about use cases, implementations, competitive threats and other IoT-related topics in a forum like that of a “Center of Excellence”.
  • Provide feedback from prospects, customers and partners to the global IoT Business Unit to help drive the global IoT strategy and investments.



  • Ability to effectively communicate and inspire others through verbal, written and presentations skills both in person and virtually.
  • Strong subject matter expertise in the IoT/IIoT platform field for manufacturing and smart device use cases.
  • Evangelize the IoT platform portfolio to all levels of potential customers and partners, including speaking at marketing and/or industry events.
  • Experience and comfortable leading in a matrix organization, achieving results through collaboration and influence rather than only through direct reporting line.
  • Accurately assess and forecast of NAM IoT business unit, drive direct and indirect teams to develop pipeline and manage broad organizational teams to successfully deliver on NAM IoT targets. 


Education Required:  University degree in Technology or Business related disciplines preferred, but not required


Experience Required: 


  • 5-10+ years’ experience leading a dynamic sales team
  • 5-10+ years’ experience leading technology strategy
  • 10-15+ years’ experience with C-level customer interaction
  • Motivate and coach individual contributors responsible for generating a 3.5x pipeline leveraging use cases, R+D, industry expertise, and competitive analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of web systems architecture, design and development
  • Hands on experience with complex project management
